MANGALURU: Upset over his fiancée picking an argument with him for liking another girl’s pictures on Instagram, a youth committed suicide at Punjalkatte Kukkikatte in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. The deceased is Chetan (25).
Chetan and Chaitanya came to know each other through Instagram, fell in love and got engaged eight months ago. On January 21, Chetan had liked the photos of another young woman on Instagram whom he knew. The same day, Chaitanya noticed this and went to Chetan’s house when his mother was away at her parental home, and picked an argument with him over liking the Instagram photos.
Upset over this, Chetan tied a cloth to a rafter in his house and hanged himself right in front of his fiancée. Chaitanya immediately brought him down and called his mother stating that Chetan was asleep and not waking up.
But later, family members noticed the cloth tied to the rafter and Chaitanya revealed what had happened. The Punjalkatte police visited the spot and have taken up further investigation after registering a case.
