BELAGAVI: The Congress on Monday announced its fourth promise to voters with Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi promising Rs 3,000 per month to 3,000 unemployed graduates and 1,500 youths who have studies PUC/diploma courses under the Yuva Nidhi scheme.
Speaking at the Yuva Shakti rally here, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Bharat Jodo Yatra, held a few months ago, had go the support of all sections and sent out a message to the country. This is not a country of just two people or of Adani, it belongs to farmers, women and the youth. There was no violence and there was brotherhood everywhere”.
“Lakhs of people joined the yatra and I got to interact with many people. The youth of this region had said that the present government is not providing them jobs and that it is a 40 per cent commission government. Contractors had written to the Prime Minister, but he did not act. There is corruption in KSDL and recruitment of assistant professors”, he said.
Targeting industrialist Gautam Adani, Rahul Gandhi said, “The entire industry, including roads and airports, are being handed over to him and the same is happening here too. The BJP government is only for the benefit of their rich industrialist friends. For the benefit of the unemployed, we will give Rs 3,000 per month for two years for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders. That is not all, we will provide jobs to 2.5 lakh youth every year”, he added.
Earlier, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge the upcoming Assembly election will give a message to the country and expressed confidence that the party will win 18 seats in Belagavi. “Now they are asking questions about what Rahul Gandhi said in Srinagar 46 days ago. Let them first answer the questions he has raised about Adani. Rahul is not afraid of anyone and he speaks the truth”, he said.
Kharge said the party had already announced three promises and the fourth was for the youth. “There are 50 lakh vacant government jobs, including 2.5 lakh posts in the state alone. If our government comes to power, we will fill all vacant posts in one-and-half years”, he added.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah spoke. The crowd cheered loudly when Siddaramaiah got up to speak. KPCC working president Satish Jarkiholi and Youth Congress national president B V Srinivas also spoke. Party leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, M B Patil, B K Hariprasad were among those present.
