MANDYA: Three of a family died on the spot and one child was seriously injured after a milk tanker ran over a two-wheeler at Koppa in Maddur taluk of Mandya district on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Muthuraj (35), Kavya (30) and Keerthana (8), all residents of Koppa.
The three were going to Bengaluru early on Tuesday after attending the Gowri-Ganesha festival when a milk tanker collided with their scooter. Muthuraj and his family was living in Bengaluru and they had visited Koppa for the Gowri-Ganesha festival. The accident occurred while they were returning to Bengaluru today after the festival.
The Koppa police visited the spot and registered a case. The bodies of th deceased were sent to MIMS for autopsy while the other injured child is also admitted there.
Mandya SP Shobha Rani, who visited the hospital, said the milk tanker was from Davanagere. “The milk tanker has been seized and the driver arrested. After his interrogation, the exact reason for the accident will be known. CCTV cameras are also being checked”, she added
