BENGALURU: The date and auspicious time for D K Shivakumar’s swearing-in as chief minister has not been officially fixed yet, but it is highly likely that the swearing-in will take place during the Godhuli muhurta.

Following Siddaramaiah’s resignation as chief minister on Thursday, there is a possibility of holding the legislature party meeting on Saturday evening itself. If the CLP meeting happens by Saturday, there is high probability that D K Shivakumar will take oath on Monday during the Godhuli muhurta.

The swearing-in is likely to be held at Kanteerava Stadium or in front of the Grand Steps of Vidhana Soudha. If everything goes as planned and is completed by Saturday, D K Shivakumar’s swearing-in on Monday during the Godhuli muhurta is almost certain. Preparations are being made to hold the swearing-in by gathering people on a large scale.

Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday said he has submitted his resignation ‘voluntarily’ after a suggestion from the party high command, while firmly asserting that he will continue in state politics and not move to the Rajya Sabha. Following directives from the party high command, Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation to the post of Karnataka Chief Minister to the Governor’s office.

While the resignation has been submitted to the Special Secretary to the Governor, Prabhu Shankar, it awaits formal acceptance by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, who is currently travelling to Bengaluru. Gehlot has reportedly departed from Nagda for Indore by road and is scheduled to travel to Bengaluru by flight.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Thursday suddenly arrived at his hometown, Nagda, in Madhya Pradesh. According to sources, Gehlot travelled to Nagda due to the ill health of his wife.
