CHITRADURGA: A 17-year-old minor girl, who was in a relationship, gave birth to a baby boy after being impregnated by her boyfriend. After a case was registered, the boyfriend has been absconding.
The minor girl was in a relationship with a goods vehicle driver named Kariyanna. She was staying in a hostel and studying PUC. Upon learning about her pregnancy, the girl’s mother took her from the hostel and got her admitted to the hospital for delivery. She delivered the baby at Hiriyur taluk hospital.
As the girl is a minor, the hospital staff informed the authorities following which officials from the Women and Child Welfare Department visited the taluk hospital and informed the police. A POCSO case has been registered against the girl’s boyfriend, Kariyanna.
The minor girl has been shifted to the Sakhi Centre of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Immediately after the case was registered, the boyfriend went into hiding. A case has been registered at Hiriyur Town police station.
