BENGALURU: A day after Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar stated that the BJP government’s claims of the world’s largest technology manufacturer and service provider Foxconn investing in Karnataka had been ‘proved false’, Hon Hai Precision Industry Company Ltd chairman Young Lui has written to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stating that the company is keen to ensure “successful grounding of ‘Project Elephant’ in Bengaluru”.
Only on Sunday, D K Shivakumar had tweeted, “BJP only knows to serve lies to our people & make tall claims with no authenticity. Recently, they boasted about an iPhone manufacturing unit coming up in Bengaluru with a potential of creating 1 lakh jobs, which has been proved false already. Karnataka won’t trust BJP again”.

In the letter dated March 6, Young Liu stated, “…the efficiency of cargo handling at the (KIA) airport does have a significant bearing on our operations and metrics, as we rely on air freight for our multiple products, to a considerable extent”.
He said, “Led by Vandita Sharma, Chief Secretary, the senior officials made a presentation on three key pillars essential for making “Project Elephant” a grand success, at Vidhana Soudha. It was great to note the infrastructure readiness timelines, Government of Karnataka’s support for skilling and talent acquisition and the availability of social infrastructure around the region where the plot is earmarked for the project”.
Further, the Foxconn chairman noted, “My team will be in close contact with your team to take this forward and ensure successful grounding of ‘Project Elephant’ in Bengaluru. I am confident that this project will lay a strong foundation for our other multiple plans, spanning mechanical/precision machinery, electric vehicle, IC design & semiconductor segments to consider your State as a potential investment destination”.
