Though BBMP had claimed that leakage in a pipeline had caused the cave-in on the road near Jnana Bharati, no leakage in the pipeline was found.

BENGALURU: A day after Public TV reported the pitiable condition of roads that were done up just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state at a cost of Rs 23 crore, the Prime Minister’s Office has now sought a report from the state government.

A part of the road had caved it right after the PM’s visit.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed the BBMP chief commissioner to prepare a report and also to suspend the officials responsible. The BBMP officials had claimed that the asphalt had peeled off due to water leakage underneath and the CM had also announced a probe into the substandard quality of road work.

BWSSB chairman Jayram, along with officials, inspected the spot on Friday.

Interestingly, after the BMP’s claim of leakage in the water pipeline on the road adjoining the Jnana Bharati campus, leading to the cave-in, BWSSB chairman Jayaram himself inspected the spot and said there was no leakage in the pipeline there. “The road may have got damaged due to some other reason”, he said.

Also, all the speedbreakers have been removed resulting in a few accidents.

Patch work was again taken up in Kommaghatta.

In Kommaghatta, where the PM addressed a gathering, the BBMP has had to again undertake patch work. The civic body had spent Rs 11.5 crore on a 7-km stretch of road work here.
