MYSURU: The 12-year-old son of a doctor couple in the city, who was kidnapped on Thursday evening by some unknown persons, was rescued by the police in a matter of hours.

The boy was cycling near his house in BEML Layout in Kuvempu Nagar police limits around 8 pm when the kidnappers bundled him into a car and sped away. The boy’s parents immediately lodged a complaint and the Kuvempu Nagar police launched a search. However, around midnight, the kidnappers dropped off the boy near his house.

In a video, the boy can be seen narrating the entire episode. “The car had a yellow registration plate and I could see only the first two parts (KA 01). At first, I was scared but then I mingled with them and started to talk to them. They threatened to murder me if I spoke about the incident to my parents. One of the kidnappers had a limp”, he said.

Further, the boy said there were target signs on all four windows and that he was made to sit in the rear seat. “They drove along the Ring Road about four times. We were within 20 km of Mysuru. They gave me biscuits, chocolate and water, but I refused. They were running out of diesel and at one point, a man spoke to them from the window. After that, they dropped me off near the house”, the boy claimed.

While the boy is safely back with his parents, several questions remain unanswered and the police too have remained tight-lipped.
