BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous raids on officials of different departments across the state and uncovered illegal assests to the tune of crores of rupees. The raids were conducted at 30 locations including Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Chitradurga and Ballari.
In the continued raid on suspended Bescom Chief General Manager M L Nagaraj, the Lokayukta officiasl found documents related to seven residential plots, three houses, two petrol bunks, agricultural land and educational institutions. Nagaraj had been trapped two months ago while accepting a bribe of Rs 7 lakh for grant of a commercial licence. He has been under suspension for the last one-and-half months.
In Bengaluru, the Lokayukta police raided his houses in Indiranagar and Nagavarapalya. They also raided five other locations including two petrol bunks in Ballari, houses in Kudligi and Gudekote. At his Indiranagar quarters, the Lokayukta officials found heaps of documents gathering dust. The raid was conducted in the presence of Nagaraj’s sister in his absence. They also found Rs 30 lakh worth of jewellery in his sister’s house apart from 3.8 kg of sandalwood from his house.
The other officials raided include D M Padmanabha, PDO of Kundana gram panchayat who has a house in Malleswaram; O Satish Babu, PWD superintendent engineer who has a house at JCR Layout in Chitradurga; Syed Muneer Ahmed, Assistant Executive Engineeer, KRIDL, Ramanagara, who has a house in RT Nagar, Bengaluru; C H Suresh, Channahalli gram panchayat member, Ramanagara, who has a house in Jayamahal; Manjesh B, member-secretary and joint director, town planning, who has a farmhouse at Sasalupura village in Ramanagara.
Padmanabh has a four-storey house at AGB Layout near Saptagiri Layout, five acres of agricultural land with farm house at Anupanahalli in Tumakuru district, commercial complex at Sompura and industrial sheds at Dobbspet and Sompura.
