CHIKKABALLAPUR: A man allegedly murdered his wife by strangulating her with her ID card tag and suffocating her, at a lodge in Doddaballapur of Bengaluru Rural district, locked the room and fled, suspectedly over a family fued. Police are now on the lookout for him.
The couple had separated, but the husband convinced the wife and brought to the lodge. He then fled after murdering her. The police have collected evidence from the spot and launched a manhunt for him.
Despite opposition from parents, Vidya (23) had married Anand. As Vidya was a minor at the time of marriage, a POCSO case was registered against Anand and he was in jail for some time. Later, he was released and compromised with Vidya and they got married. But as Vidya’s parents opposed this marriage, both again left home and got married.
The couple initially lived lived together and also have a two-year-old male child. But as days passed, cracks developed in their marital life. With increasing family feud, Vidya had become distant from her husband a few months ago. She went back with the husband after a compromise meeting in a police station.
But after some time, she had again become distant from Anand and was working in Foxconn company in Doddaballapur for a livelihood and was living in a paying guest accommodation.
Anand is also said to be working in private finance company. On September 15, Anand and Vidya came to Samruddhi Grand hotel (SGS lodge) in Doddaballapur and went to their room with a food parcel in hand. But after about one hour, only Anand came out, locked room and escaped, SP Chandrakanth said.
When Vidya did not come out of room, and the door was not opened even after one day passed, the suspicious lodge staff informed the police. Doddaballapur police, who came to spot, opened the room door and found Vidya dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the murder was committed by strangulating Vidya using the tag of the ID card and suffocating her. After incident accused Anand has gone missing, police have spread the net for him, the SP added.
