MANDYA: Dumped by her boyfriend after eight years of relationship, a woman from Nanjangud staged an overnight protest in front of his house at Ballagere village in Malavalli taluk on Monday night.
Manju B R and Ramyashri were in a relationship for eight years, but over the last few months, he had distanced himself after she insisted that they get married, she said. When she persisted, he kept giving excuses to put off the marriage. Despite lodging complaints with the police, no action has been taken, she claimed.
She also claimed that she was assaulted by Manju and his relatives for staging a protest in front of his house. “I met Manju when I came to my grandmother’s house in Ballegere and he exploited me with the promise of marriage. Now, he is giving excuses because we belong to different castes. He wouldn’t answer my calls, and if I confronted him face to face, he would say his family is opposed to the marriage. Now, he’s preparing to marry another woman and I want justice”, she said.
