DAKSHINA KANNADA: Two days after Minister and Sullia MLA Angara S, who has been denied a ticket for the upcoming Assembly polls, said that he will retire from politics, has now done a U-turn and said he will work for the BJP candidate.

The BJP, which has announced candidates for 212 Assembly segments, has picked Bhagirathi Murulya from Sullia Assembly segment. Angered that he was not picked, Angara, six-time MLA, said that he would retire from politics and not even campaign for the party.

Addressing the media on Friday, Angara said, “I announced my political retirement as I was pained at that moment. I will remain active in politics as earlier and I will withdraw my statement. Our ultimate aim is the victory of the BJP candidate Bhagirathi Murulya. I am not upset with the selection of the party’s candidate and working for the candidate victory is my responsibility”, Angara said.

He thanked the party workers and the supporters. “I am no disappointed. Henceforth, I will participate in all party activities. I made that statement when I was upset and angry. I will work for the party candidate and ensuring her win win is my aim”, Angara added.
