DAVANAGERE: The staff at the Honnali taluk hospital have allegedly been misusing an ambulance, meant to transport patients, for personal and sundry work like transporting files and getting stocks of medicine.

Two of the staffers, Dhananjay and Manjunath, who arrived at Davanagere in the ambulance from Honnali, were taken to task by Hindu Janajagruthi Seva Samiti members for allegedly misusing the vehicle.

The hospital staff reportedly claimed that since the health department had not provided a separate vehicle for official use, they had hitched a ride in the ambulance.

The ambulance was provided to the taluk hospital under the MLA grants. The alleged misuse of the vehicle has come in for widespread condemnation.
