BENGALURU: A man killed his 55-year-old wife by smashing her head with a stone and then portrayig it as an accident involving a Bullet motorcyle. The accused is Anant, and his deceased wife is Girija. The couple had been married for 20 years and had a 17-year-old daughter.
Anant initially fooled police into believing it was an accident, even performing the wife’s last rites. However, the post-mortem report revealed it was murder. It was proven that the man killed his wife in the postmortem report. Police arrested Anant after he admitted to the crime.
The Chikkajala traffic police, who had registered an accident case, informed the Bagalur police about the murder on the basis of the PM report. The police have appealed to his minor daughter to file a complaint against Anant, but she had refused to file a complaint against her father. Then they instructed Girija’s sisters to file a complaint. No one had dared file a complaint against Anant, thinking who will take care of her daughter.
Since it was a murder case, the police received a complaint from the Chikkajala traffic sub-Inspector and arrested Anant.
Sajeet, Deputy CP, North-East Division, briefing the incident, said, “The accused, Anant, and Girija have been married for 20 years. Originally from Chitradurga, they lived in New Town, Yelahanka. The murdered woman, Girija, worked as a physical education teacher in a government school by profession. Her husband, Anant, worked in a private company”.
“The accused, Anant, suspected that his wife would poisoned his food and kill him, and they used to quarrel over trivial issues. So when the two went to the stage of divorce, the elders asked them to settle the issue and keep them together”, Sajeet added.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police further said, “Anant’s suspicion about his wife grew day by day. He bougtht a site in Bagalur police station area. He took her there, saying they’d perform a puja before building a house, and stayed till dark”.
“Anant then killed her with a stone and staged an accident involving a Bullet bike, claiming she died in the crash. After the post-mortem report revealed murder, Anant confessed to killing her with the stone during police interrogation”, the DCP said.
“Anant took Girija to a site in Bagalur, saying they had to perform a puja before building a house. They stayed there until night and he took her away. He killed her on the road by thrashing her with a stone and pretended it was an accident. The truth behind the murder was revealed through the PM report”, the DCP said.
