Two dead, two injured after being run over by lorry near Raichur village

BENGALURU: Two people died on the spot and two others are in critical condition after a gravel lorry ran over them near Attanur in Sirwar taluk of Raichur. The deceased have been identified as 31-year-old Anjaneya and 12-year-old Archana from Shakapur village.

The accident occurred while they were returning to Shakapur village after attending the Diddi Basaveshwara fair in Attanur village. Road work was under way on the route, and a lorry transporting gravel for the construction hit the bike and ran over the riders.

Anjaneya and Archana died at the spot. Of the other two, Shwetha sustained fractures in both legs, while Lakshmi suffered a hand fracture. The incident happened while four people were returning to their village on a single bike. The injured have been admitted to OPEC Hospital in Raichur and treatment is ongoing.

Among three sisters, two sustained fractures to their hands and legs, while Archana died. Following the incident, a case has been registered at Sirwar police station. The lorry driver is absconding.
