Woman travelling to Mysuru delivers child on board Bengaluru-bound train

MANGALURU: A heavily pregnant woman travelling from Mangaluru to Mysuru went into labour on the train. Passengers waited for nearly 30 minutes for a doctor, but no medical help arrived.

After that, women in the coach struggled to assist with the delivery by putting up makeshift curtains inside the train compartment. The train halted at BC Road in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

Passengers waited for doctors, but there was no medical facility available, causing distress. The woman was suffering from severe blood loss. Eventually, the women on the train conducted the delivery.

Both mother and child are safe and were later admitted to the Bantwal government hospital.
