BENGALURU: The parents of the II PUC student of Sophia Pre-University College, who committed suicide by jumping off the 10th floor of HighPoint Tree apartment building on Sunday, have revealed that she was depressed and had attempted suicide twice earlier by overdosing on medical drugs.

In CCTV footage, the girl was seen waiting for the lift around 5.30 pm, before committing suicide in apartment complex.

Prakruthi’s parents told the police that on Sunday evening, she went out of the house after quarrelling with them over her losing weight and not consulting a doctor properly. The parents had kept quiet then as she had gone out and said nothing. When she did not return home in the evening, Prakruthi’s mother contacted her and asked her to come home, but she replied that she would come home after some time.

As per the initial police investigation, the girl tried to enter her college premises, but the security guards denied entry as it was a Sunday. She then went into the HighPoint Tree apartment nearby to take up the extreme step. Now, based on the parents’ statement, a case of suicide was registered at the High Ground police station.
