The anganwadi at Hatyal which has been shunned by upper caste families.

BIDAR: The social evil of untouchability shockingly still prevails, that too in the land which was 12th century reformer Basavanna’s karma bhoomi.

Upset over the appointment of a Dalit teacher and an assistant upper caste parents have stopped sending their children to one of the anganwadis at Hatyal village in Basavakalyan taluk.

There are three anganwadis and two of them are functioning normally. The controversy arose after teacher Sumitra Bai and a Dalit assistant were posted at the general ward anganwadi.

The anganwadis had been closed for some time due to the coronavirus outbreak and were opened recently.
