Elephant herd breaks compound wall, damages standing crops on farm near Anekal

BENGALURU: A herd of elephants broke down a compound wall and entered a farm at Solur village in the state’s border on Monday night. The elephants destroyed standing crops including banana, maize and vegetables grown on the farm.

The herd of four elephants entered the farm after breaking the compound wall and tearing down the barbed wire fence. The farm owners complained of huge losses due to the rampage by the elephants.

Of late, there has been increasing instances of conflict involving elephants. Over the last two months, elephants from the Tamil Nadu border have been entering Anekal taluk and creating havoc.
