BENGALURU: A Rapido bike taxi driver escaped danger, thanks to his presence of mind and shrewdness. According to the driver, an unidentified miscreant had hatched a plan to rob him by booking a bike.
Drivers who ride Rapido to earn some money in their free time along with their work, be careful. In Bengaluru, an incident occurred where a person booked a Rapido bike and plotted to rob the driver. The Rapido bike driver escaped danger due to his quick thinking.
A youth named Bhanu Prasad from Chikkaballapur, who has completed his degree and is preparing for competitive exams, rides a Rapido bike to earn enough for study materials and other expenses. Three days ago, around 1 am, he got a booking for a ride from Bidarahalli to Horamavu. While he was on the way, the customer messaged the bike driver saying, “Come immediately, someone has come to kill me.”
Halfway there, Bhanu Prasad saw the message and immediately called 112 and informed the police about the matter. Then the police came to where Bhanu Prasad was and went together to the pickup location. However, seeing the police jeep, the person who booked the bike switched off his mobile.
Noticing that the phone was switched off, the police told Bhanu Prasad to leave immediately from there saying it was not a safe place. About 20 minutes later, the person who booked the bike called Bhanu Prasad again and told him to come alone.
Speaking to Public TV, Bhanu Prasad said, “While I was on the way, the person texted me saying ‘Come soon and save me’. I got scared and called 112 and explained about the message. The police came and we went to the location, but the phone was switched off. The police told me to go home, but after 20 minutes, I called the number again and he told me to come alone”.
The police have taken the phone number of the person who booked the bike and have started efforts to trace the individual.
