BENGALURU: The chargesheet submitted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in The Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, has revealed that the alleged terrorists Musavir Hussain and Abdul Mateen Taha had in fact planted an explosive near the BJP office in Malleswaram.
The chargesheet said that the primary target was the BJP Karnataka unit office and when it did not work out, The Rameshwaram Cafe was targeted. The two alleged terrorists assembled the improvised explosive device (IED) in Chennai and planted it in parking lot near the BJP office. However, it did not explode due to a malfuntion.
Interestingly, Hussain and Taha had videographed them planting the explosive on a body-worn camera and sent the video to their handlers abroad. They were waiting for the explosive to go off and were waiting to hear about the death toll on television.
As there was no explosion, the duo went to the spot the next morning to retrieve the IED, but did not find it. It still remains a mystery as to how the IED went missing or whether who took it away, the chargesheet says.
