KOPPAL: Bharatiya Janata Party Koppal Lok Sabha member Karadi Sanganna cancelled his Delhi visit at the last moment on Monday. He had planned to leave for Delhi on Monday morning as he intended to contest the Koppal Assembly on a JD(S) ticket. On Monday evening, the BJP announced Manjula Amaresh, his daughter-in-law, as the party candidate.

It is said that Sanganna changed his decision at the last moment after the party leaders assured him on Sunday night that they will give the ticket to one of his family members. Sanganna himself was a ticket aspirant, but the party leaders denied it to him and instead gave it one of his family members.

Sanganna is an influencial Panchamasali Lingayat community leader. He had insisted on a BJP ticket for his daughter-in-law Manjula. Earlier, he held meeting with party supporters to discuss about resigning from the BJP if his family was denied a ticket. His supporters had insisted that he should join the JD(S).
