CHAMARAJANAGAR: A elephant calf was seriously injured after a tree fell on it in Punajanur range of Biligirirangana Hills tiger reserve forest of Chamarajanagar district. The baby elephant was struggling, unable to get up, while the mother elephant wasstruggling to lift the baby elephant.
The Forest staff cleared the tree that had fallen on the baby elephant with the help of an excavator. The Forest staff tried to give treatment to the injured baby elephant, but the mother elephant was in no mood to leave the baby elephant.
The Forest staff made continuous efforts to lift the baby elephant with the excavator, but as the mother elephant did not move from spot, the rescue operation of injured baby elephant was hindered. However much they tried to chase away mother elephant from spot, it was not possible.
