RAICHUR: The police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse two groups of youths who got into clash on the fifth day of Ganesha idol immersion in the city on Thursday.
One group started pelting stones at the other when the procession was passing through Thimmapurapet. The idol immersion was happening through the night. Apparently, the reason for the clash was that the procession being taken by one group was not moving ahead.
As soon as trouble started, the police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowds and brought the situation under control. There was a huge queue for immersion of idols at the Khasabavi which went on till late afternoon.
