Police on lookout for Mohanraj who gave Rs 40 lakh to Darshan

BENGALURU: The city police are still looking for Mohanraj, who is said to be a close friend of Sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and had given Rs 40 lakh to the latter as loan. Mohanraj seems to be out of town and the police are making efforts to trace him.

Darshan had planned to cover up the Renukaswamy murder case and made all efforts to destroy evidence. He borrowed Rs 40 lakh from Mohanraj and allegedly gave it to some of his men to take the fall so that he could escape arrest. Mohanraj’s came to the fore during the police investigation.

Mohanraj did not respond to a police notices and has switched off his mobile phone and remained incommunicado. The police also found that he has close links with an MLA. The police are investigating whether Monhanraj knew about the murder of Renukaswamy, while giving money to Darshan.

Earlier, police seized cash Rs 37 lakh from Darshan’s house and Rs 3 lakh from his wife Vijayalakshmi’s house. The police expressed suspicion about Darshan’s money transactions and are thinking of writing to the Income Tax Department.
