MYSURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mysuru on August 1 and to inaugurate a Vivekananda memorial and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, built at a cost of Rs 45 crore. The memorial is located on Narayana Shastri Road in Mysuru.
The Vivekananda memorial has been built to commemmorate Swami Vivekananda’s stay here. A cultural youth centre will also been opened. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the memorial and later, he will offer floral tributes to the Vivekananda statue at Ramakrishna Ashram in Vontikoppal.
A grand stage programme has been organised at the auditorium of Ramakrishna Ashram. PM Modi will be at the Ashram for 30 minutes and about 6,000 people are expected to attend the programme. Passes will be distributed to those attending the programme and only those with passes will be allowed entry. College students and the public will attend the programme.
A Vivekananda statue sculpted by sculptor Arun Yogiraj and a gift showcasing Mysuru’s heritage will be presented to PM Modi. Along with Modi, Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, MLA Harish Gowda, and BJP state president Vijayendra will share the stage, Mukthidanandaji Maharaj of the Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram said.
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, BJP state president BY Vijayendra visited Ramakrishna Ashram in Vontikoppal on Tuesday. He also held discussions with Ramakrishna Ashram swamijis regarding the programme. Several BJP leaders accompanied Vijayendra.
