DHARWAD: Two trains were stranded at the at Alnavar railway station in Dharwad district on Tuesday morning for several hours due to delay in railway electric line installation work. The passengers were stranded and struggled without food and water.

The Bengaluru-Belagavi Express and the Rani Chennamma Express trains were running late on Tuesday. The Bengaluru-Belagavi Express was halted for more than hours due to electrification work near Londa railway station in Belagavi district. The Rani Chennamma Express, which was coming behind it, also had to stop at Alnavar railway station.

Passengers, who were struggling without food and water, were seen arguing with railway officials. “If you tell us what time the train will leave, we will go outside the station, have food and come back”, they were heard arguing.

The Bengaluru-Belagavi Express, which was supposed to reach Belagavi by 7.15 am, and Rani Chennamma, which was supposed to reach by 10 am, finally departed only after 10 am once the line was cleared.
