The Bellandur police had taken Iqra Jeewani (19) into custody on January 19 from Junnasandra, where she and her husband Mulayam Singh Yadav (26), a security guard, were staying for six months.
Mulayam Singh Yadav met Iqra Jeewani on a mobile gaming application and they fell in love while playing online Ludo. For the last seven years, he has worked as a security guard for several companies in the city. When they decided to get married, he booked flight tickets for her from Karachi to Dubai and then to Kathmandu. They got married in Nepal last September, crossed border and came to Patna. From there, they travelled by train to Bengaluru and started living in Bellandur police limits.
Iqra Jeewani’s mother, who lives in Pakistan, frequently contacted her over the phone. The central Intelligence Bureau informed the state police about regular phone calls between Bengaluru and Pakistan. Acting on the information, the Bellandur police arrested both and she was handed over to FRRO. “Mulayam Singh Yadav booked a flight for Iqra from Karachi to Dubai and then to Kathmandu. He got her a fake Aadhaar card to bring her to our country and she illegally entered India through the Nepal border”, Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish had said earlier.
During questioning, Iqra Jeewani claimed she left her country, Pakistan, for love and married Mulayam Singh Yadav. However, police investigation revealed that there was no official document or photo of their marriage.
After conducting an investigation, the state’s internal security division (ISD) reported Iqra Jeewani was not a spy and had come to the city for love and had no other specific intention.
In the report, the ISD stated that Pakistani girl Iqra Jeewani (19) and Mulayam Singh Yadav (26) have no criminal backgrounds and have no other intentions. The report, which cleared Iqra Jeewani, backed her claim that she left her home country Pakistan for love and to marry Mulayam Singh Yadav.
