BENGALURU: The Mangaluru cooker blast accused Mohammed Shariq will undergo surgery for his burn injuries at Victoria Hospital in the city on Tuesday.

Earlier, Shariq was treated in a private hospital in Mangaluru. After his condition improved and he was able to walk, the National Investigation Agency took custody of him and shifted him to Bengaluru. Since the burn injuries from the blast need more time to heal, he is currently being treated at Victoria Hospital. The treatment is led by plastic surgeon K T Ramesh.

After the surgery, Shariq will be under post-operative care for a week and then discharged. Later, he will be handed over to the NIA team, which will conduct further inquiry into the IED blast case.
