BENGALURU: In yet another triple murder in the city, a man murdered his mother, grandmother and uncle and later ended his life at their house near the Ganesha Temple at Kottigepalya in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Saturday.

The accused Prashanth allegedly hacked his grandmother Nanjamma (65) and mother Mangalamma (55) to death at the main entrance door, and hacked his uncle Satish (50) to death inside his room. The house owner noticed and locked Prashanth in his room, but he later committed suicide.

While Chikkanna works in a laundry, Mangalamma worked in a garment factory, and Nanjamma did household work. Prashanth, who committed the murders, worked as a driver. The family is originally from Magadi Palya near Kunigal. The incident occurred around 8.30 am on Saturday.

Prashanth’s father, Chikkanna said, “Last night we all had dinner and went to sleep. There were four people in the house. As usual, I left the house for work at 6 am when everyone was sleeping. At 10 am, a friend called me and informed me about the incident. When I came and checked, I came to know that three people had been killed”.

“He was mentally fine. If he was mentally disturbed, why would he be working as a cab driver? There used to be small arguments over food. He loved his mother a lot. I feel that if I had been at home during the incident, he would have killed me too”, Chikkanna added.

West Division DCP Yatish said, “The Kamakshipalya police received information between 8.30 and 9 am that there was a fight in the house and two people were killed. Police immediately rushed to the spot and found that three people had been killed. It is learnt that there were five people in the house — father, mother, grandmother and uncle. He first killed uncle Satish, and then killed the grandmother and mother. A case has been registered at Kamakshipalya police station and further investigation is under way.”

The bodies were shifted in two ambulances to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination.
