RAICHUR: A youth died after an electric wire snapped and fell on a lorry which was carrying a Ganesha idol from Hyderabad for installation, at Atthanur village in Sirwar taluk on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as 27-year-old Prem Kumar.
As soon as the electric wire snapped, the other youths jumped out from lorry and escaped. But Prem Kumar who was sleeping in lorry died. The mishap occurred while bringing a 25-quintal Ganesha idol for installation.
The Ganesha idol which had fallen on to road was later cleared with the help of a crane. The incident occurred in Sirwar police limits and the body of the youth was sent to RIMS hospital mortuary in Raichur for postmortem examination.
