MANDYA: A man killed his two children by slitting their throats and carried out a murderous assault on his wife by hitting her with a hammer over a domestic dispute at a farm at Maralagala village in Srirangapatna taluk on Wednesday night.
The accused Srikanth hails from Ganagapura in Kalaburagi district and has been married to Lakshmi for the last six years. The couple had two children, four-year-old Adarsh and two-year-old Amulya.
A couple of days ago, Srikanth quarrelled with his parents and came to Maralagala village with his family where his in-laws work as farm hands in a farm belonging to Virupaksha. He then requested his in-laws to find him work there itself.
After dinner, everyone retired for the day. Srikanth and his family were sleeping in another part of the servant quarters. and early on Thursday morning, Srikanth hit his wife Lakshmi with a hammer, leaving her in a pool of blood. He then slit the throats of his two children who were sleeping beside his wife, and fled.
In the morning, Lakshmi’s parents found her alive and shifted her to a private hospital in Mysuru. The Srirangapatna Rural police, who visited the spot, have registered a case and have launched a manhunt for Srikanth. Locals demanded strict punishment for the accused.
