BENGALURU: Holenarsipura JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, who was arrested in an alleged kidnapping case registered at KR Nagar in Mysuru district and lodged at the central prison in Parappana Agrahara, was on Monday granted bail by a special court for elected representatives. However, he will stay in prison tonight and is likely to be released on Tuesday after fulfilling all the bail conditions.
Revanna will have to furnish a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh and produce two individual sureties. He also cannot travel to KR Nagar. Revanna’s lawyers will complete the bail formalities before the 17th ACCM court and head to Parappana Agrahara to secure his release on Tuesday. The JD(S) leader is mostly likely to be released by late afternoon.
As soon as news of the court allowing bail got out, Revanna’s aides and JD(S) workers raised slogans and celebrated. After his arrest from his father and former PM H D Deve Gowda’s house in Padmanabhanagar, the court had remanded Revanna to judicial custody till May 14.
Revanna was arrested is connection with a kidnapping case filed against him at the KR Nagar police station in Mysuru related to the alleged obscene video case involving incumbent Hassan MP and his son Prajwal Revanna.
Revanna was booked in the case on April 28 based on a complaint lodged at Holenarasipura Town police station. The case was registered under Sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman.
As per the complaint, the victim claimed that Prajwal Revanna and his father H D Revanna had sexually assaulted her. A blue corner notice has been issued against Prajwal Revanna who is currently abroad.
