Illegal beef centres were raided in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday.

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Bulldozers are now roaring against illegal slaughter houses in Chikkamagaluru, the Assembly constituency of BJP national general secretary C T Ravi.

On Wednesday, the town municipal council raided such illegal establishments and also served notices to some houses where cow meat was being sold illegally

The notice warns of those possessing explosive or narcotic substances, or slaughtering cows that their houses will be demolished.

Only last week, the TMC had torn down an illegal beef unit on the outskirts of the town.

“The Sri Ram Sene and Bajrang Dal had claimed that there are over 40 illegal slaughter houses in Chikkamagaluru and appealed to clear them and take action. Recently, in Tamil Colony, the TMC seized beef from a place where cow slaughter was taking place illegally. We had ealier warned that such places will be cleared.

“Today, in Tipu Nagar, about 250-300 kg of cow meat was seized and notices were issued to five establishments. The police have also written to us and we will issue notices to all illegal establishments”, said TMC president V Venugopal.
