I-T officials raid residence of Congress leader in Haveri, seize Rs 2.85 crore in unaccounted cash

HAVERI: With just about two days left for the Assembly election, Income Tax officials have been conducting a string of raids on the houses of financiers and businessmen. The Income Tax officials raided the residence of  Congress leader Channabasappa Hullatti at Vidyanagar in Byadagi on Sunday, and seized Rs 2.85 crore in unaccounted cash.

Channabasappa Hullati, a former president of the Agricultural Produce Market Committees, was working at CKLE and Sons, a pepper brokerage firm. Besides, he was closely associated with a Congress candidate and was in charge of the Congress programmes held in Byadagi.

Now, Congress activists have alleged that the raid was carried out intentionall. The I-T officials have examining documents and taken up further investigation.

On Saturday, the I-T officials have seized crores after raids in five locations against those financing party candidates.  The raids conducted on the residences of a close associate of Congress leader Priyank Kharge .

Income Tax department officials also raided the house of, Sunita, the sister of former CM SM Krishna, at Koramangala in Bengaluru. They also raids the residence and offices of a promoter of Bagmane tech park at Traan Insignia apartment in Bengaluru. Teams of I-T officials have been conducting raids over last two days.
