SHIVAMOGGA: A motorcycle rider and his pillion died and another was seriously injured after the two-wheeler collided with a lorry near Nidige on Thursday night. The motorcycle was completely crushed in the accident.
Three people, including a minor, were riding on the motorcycle at the time of the accident. The deceased are Rahul (17) and Chaitanya (23) while the seriously injured is Tejaswi (24). He is being treated at a private hospital.
The trio was coming from Shivamogga towards Bhadravati when the accident occurred. The Shivamogga Rural police have registered a case.
In another incident, two people riding on a moped died after a collision with a pickup truck near Gauthampura near Anandapura in Sagar taluk. The deceased are Vasappa (70) and Satish (40).
The moped riders were on their way from Gauthampura to Anandapura while the pickup truck was on its way to Shikaripur from Anandapura. A case has been registered at the Anandapura police station.
