UDUPI: The body of Alwin Prakash Kunder, originally from Udupi, who was brutally murdered in Sharjah, was brought back to his hometown on Friday. Family members struggled for the last two months to get the remains back and finally paid their last respects.
The body, which was in nine pieces, made whole village feel heartbroken. Citizens have demanded speedy tracing of absconding accused. Prakash was murdered somewhere in late July, but the family came to know about it late. As soon as they came to know about it, family members struggled hard to bring back the body. Finally, due to continuous effort of people’s representatives of central and state governments, the body was brought home.
On Friday morning, elder brother Prashanth Kunder went to the Mangaluru airport and received the coffin. Coastal Development Board chairman M A Gafoor was at spot and provided help. Then, the mortal remains were brought in an ambulance to Prakash Kundar’s house at Kundapur town where religious leaders conducted prayers in which hundreds of relatives participated. As murder happened two months ago, face viewing of the body was not done and the body was dispatched in fully frozen condition.
The brutal murder has not only shocked family but whole country. MP Kota Srinivasa Poojary who participated in the last viewing, assured that all efforts will be made to trace the accused.After paying last respects, the body was brought to Protestant CSI Krupa burial ground near Kundapur Shastri Circle where too hundreds of relatives had gathered. Locals were distressed seeing brutality of murder.
After the murder, Prakash’s wife Tina Kundar and son have disappeared. They fled from Sharjah and reached India. So they should be traced in India and the family has demanded to take action so as to facilitate local police to register case and conduct investigation. Elected representatives have assured to get all legal help to the distressed family. The brother demanded that investigation should be conducted in both countries and abroad and justice given.
