Four dead as speeding car goes under moving bus near Bellur Cross

The speeding car was crushed under the bus, leaving four dead.

MANDYA: Four people died on the spot after the car they were travelling in rearended a KSRTC bus near Bellur Cross in Nagamangala taluk on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway today morning.

The car was pulled out with the help of a crane.

The speeding car, coming from Hassan, had gone under the moving bus due to the impact of the collision. The deceased were identified as Namitha of Bendiganahalli in Bengaluru, Pankaj Sharma, hailing from Rajasthan and residing in Bengaluru, Vamshi Krishna of Bengaluru and Raghunath Bhajantri of Dharwad.

The car was pulled out from under the bus with the help of a crane after which the bodies could be retrieved. The Bellur police visited the spot and have registered a case.

In another ghastly accident, one person died after the Skoda SUV he was driving rammed into a roadside tree near Somapura village in Dharwad taluk today. The deceased was identified as Imtiaz, a resident of Keshwapur in Hubballi.

The SUV was completely crumpled and its engine block had fallen some distance away due to the impact while other parts lay scattered all around. The Dharwad Rural police visited the spot and registered a case.
