BENGALURU: Sewage water has been entering the Cauvery water pipeline in Chamarajpet area for the last three months, allegedly due to the negligence of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).
Cauvery water is the lifeline of Bengaluru, but it has now become the cause of trouble for people living in Old Pension Mohalla of Chamarajpet as drain water is getting mixed in the drinking water pipeline itself. The colour of the water has changed and there is foul smell, and the same water is being supplied to houses by the water board, locals alleged.
For last three months people of Old Pension Mohalla near Mysore Road in Chamarajpet are facing this problem, but it has not been resolved. “The BWSSB playing with people’s lives. We have no water to drink, and the water that is supplied cannot be consumed. Contaminated of water has been happening for three months, but BWSSB officials have their eyes shut”, said some locals.
People are in fear of diseases spreading due to use of sewage mixed water. Even though water is supplied to houses, it has become unusable. Residents have complained to Water Board office regarding contaminated water supply requesting to solve the problem, but even after giving complaints, residents say the officials have not come to the spot and inspected the damage.
“Even though the problem exists for three months, a permanent solution has not been found. The government should solve the problem immediately”, the residents said, expressing their anger against the negligence of officials.
