BENGALURU: In his first reaction after Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sanctioned prosecution in the alleged MUDA site allotment scam, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday termed it as a “big conspiracy” to destablise a duly elected government. He alleged that the central government, the BJP, JD(S) and others are part of the conspiracy.

“We had expected this. The decision taken by the governor is unconstitutional and against the rules. We will question this in court and take up a legal fight. The Congress high command is with me, the entire cabinet is with me, the government is with me, all Congress MLA, MLCs and MPs are with me”, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stressed.

To a question on whether he would resign, Siddaramaiah said he has not done anything that warrants his resignation. “It is he (governor) who has done wrong. He is acting against the rules, in an unconstitutional manner. The Raj Bhavan has been made a political playground. The governor is a puppet in the hands of the central government”, he said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also said the governor had prepared to issue show-cause notice to him on March 26, 2023, the day the complaint was received.

“There is a complaint against H D Kumaraswamy pending since last November regarding mining licences. The Lokayukta had sought sanction for prosecution, but it has not been granted. There are cases against (Shashikala) Jolle, (Murugesh) Nirani and Janardhana Reddy. The governor has ignored all those cases and sent notice to me only. The BJP has earlier tried to dislodge elected governments in other states”, he said.
