BENGALURU: Various Hindu groups on Thursday started their protest against the Congress, which had announced in its manifesto that it will ban the Bajrang Dal, by chanting Hanuman Chalisa at different temples in the city and other parts of the state.

Hindu groups have already vented their ire and are carrying out a campaign on social media in support of Bajrang Dal. The organisation is also conducting Hanuman Chalisa recital at numerous temples in the city and district centres at 7 pm today (Thursday).

“We are organising the Hanuman Chalisa recital in protest against the Congress proposal to ban the Bajrang Dal all across the state. We want to send out a message that the Congress should not act against the interests of Hindus. Bajrang Dal is a social organisation and gives a direction to the youth”, says Bajrang Dal convener Govardhan.

Another activist, Shivu, said, “Congress has always been anti-Hindu. It is no surprise that they are questioning the links between Lord Hanuman and our organisation. We have been working for several years taking the name of Lord Anjaneya. The anti-Hindu Congress should be sent packing home this election”.

Protests were held in Chikkaballapur too.

Bajrang Dal activists said anyone can join the Hanuman Chalisa recital and insisted that it is not political. “Even if D K Shivakumar or Siddaramaiah joins us, we will welcome them”, the activists said.

While Hindu groups have said that those who meddle with Lord Anjaneya will not come to power, the Congress is in no mood to make any amendments to its manifesto.
