BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday exuded confidence that the party will win the Shivajinagar Assembly segment in the upcoming election.

Speaking at the Booth Vijay Abhiyan, he recalled that the BJP had won the seat many years ago when the party did not even have much presence in the state. Admitting that some hard work is required, he told the partymen that he will make himself available whenever they need him.

Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan (left) also participated in the programme.

“To win, we have to strengthen the booths and if we win the booth, we will win the constituency and the state. If BJP wins in Shivajinagar, the party will get 130-140 seats for sure. Every booth should have SC, ST, OBC, youths and women’s morchas and page committees. The campaign should be continuous and each household should be visited four times and made aware of the central and state governments’ achievements”, he stressed.

Noting that the BJP is the world’s largest party only because people have accepted its principles and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership, he targeted the Congress saying no development was carried out when the party was in power for 10 years at the Centre.

“The Smart City project was introduced by Modi and he allotted Rs 500 crore for the state. Some legislators are claiming that they secured funds for the works, but it is being taken up under the Smart City project introduced by the BJP”, he noted.

He also said the Modi government has approved Phase 2 of the Metro project, which will be completed in 2024. The foundation for the suburban railway project has been laid and work started. The Cauvery Phase 5 project is also in the works and all these should be highlighted, he told the party workers.

“The Congress is a sinking ship and is fighting for its own survival and is not interested in the welfare of people whereas the BJP is working for development”, he noted.

Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan exhorted party workers to ensure that the party flag flies on every house. The party has launched a booth level campaign from January 2 to 12 across its 39 organisational districts, 312 mandals, 1,445 Maha Shakti Kendras, 11, 642 kendras and 58,186 polling booths.

Central and state ministers, MPs, MLAs and other leaders will participated in the campaigns. About 20 lakh workers will take part and booth level committees, page pramukhs will be appointed and 60,000 WhatsApp groups will be created.
