MANDYA: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is among the star campaigners of the BJP, held a huge roadshow in Mandya on Wednesday. He was accompanied by MPs Sumalatha Ambareesh, Pratap Simha and ministers A Narayana Gowda and Dr C N Ashwath Narayan.
The UP CM held the roadshow from Sanjay Circle up to Mahaveer Circle accompanied by folk artists while a huge crowd that had lined up on either side of the road showered flower petals. Earlier, Yogi Adityanath flew from Lucknow to Mysuru by a special aircraft and from there, flew by helicopter to Mandya.
Addressing a huge gathering after the roadshow, Yogi Adityanath addressed the crowd in Kannada saying, “Sakkareya naadu Mandya da janate ge nanna namaskaragalu. Adichunchangiri mathakke nanan bhakti poorva namaskaragalu”.
He then said the relations between Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka date back to the Treta Yug as Lord Ram, who was in exile, met Lord Hanuman in Karnataka. “Wherever there is a Ram temple, there is also a temple of Lord Hanuman”, he noted. He also recalled the Kumbh Mela organised by minister A Narayana Gowda and regretted that he could not participate due to the flood situation in his state.
“The Congress talks about development and their Five-Year Plans. But which Five-Year Plan was successful? Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, massive development is taking place. When the foundation stone is laid for any project, the date of completion is also finalised. The country is progressing in different fields and people are seeing it”, he noted.
“Ever since the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, there have been no riots, no curfew, but only development because of the double engine government. There has been a lot of improvement in terms of security”, he said. Attacking the Congress for appeasing the PFI, he said the organisation has now been banned. Praising the leadership of B S Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, he said Karnataka has effectively implemented the National Education Policy.
The BJP’s Mandya candidate Ashok Jayaram presented an idol of Kalabhairaveshwara to Yogi Adityanath.
