BENGALURU: The Kannada and Culture Departments conducted the ‘Koti Kanta Gayana’ programme across the state where people gathered and sang six Kannada songs at various locations like Vidhana Soudha, Kanteerava Stadium and Kempegowda International Airports on Friday for the upcoming Kannada Rajyotsava on
November 1.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and ministers V Sunil Kumar, R Ashoka, MLA Preetham Gowda, MLCs D S Arun, S V Sankanur and Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma were present. Officials and staff of the ministries participated in the singing.
“The Kannada and Culture Departments organised ‘Koti Kanta Gayana’ and we sang six Kannada songs written by Kannada poets. People from all walks of life participated in this programme across the state. Let us take a step towards making Karnataka No. 1 in India. Through this programme, we are showing our strength to all. I congratulate all those who participated in this programme. On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, the Karnataka Ratna Award will be given to Puneeth Rajkumar at Vidhana Soudha at 4.30pm, and I invite you all to participate in the event,”said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Around 1.50 crore people have participated across the world, including 29 states and 50 countries. Songs such as ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate’, ‘Udayavagali Namma Chaluva Kannada Nadu’, ‘Vishwa Vinutana Vidya Chetana Sarva Hriday Sanskari’ , ‘Barisu Kannada Dimdimawa’, ‘Hachchevu Kannada Deepa’, and ‘Huttidare Kannadali Nadalli Huttabeku’, were sung in crores of voices.
Bangalore University students, officials and staff participated in the Koti Kanta Gayana programme under the leadership of vice chancellor Dr Jayakara. Kannada songs were sung under the leadership of Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy and all officers and staff of the commissioner’s office participated in the programme. A SpiceJet flight travelling from Bengaluru to Gwalior on Friday morning participated in ‘Koti Kanta Gayana’. The pilot gave information about the programme and sang along with the passengers.
