BENGALURU: The Election Commission of India has directed several measures to facilitate voters who have been issued notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in connection with unmapped and logical discrepancies.
As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, within the jurisdiction of the Additional District Election Officer, Bengaluru North, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are already visiting the houses of the voters who have been issued notices and collecting the required documents. The documents collected are being uploaded on ECINet and submitted for consideration and decision by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) concerned.
In such cases, voters generally need not be called to the ERO/AERO office for a hearing. In exceptional circumstances, if a hearing is considered necessary as decided by the ERO, arrangements will be made to conduct the hearing preferably online. Where required, voters have been authorised to nominate any adult member of their family to attend the hearing on their behalf.
Assistance through special camps and help desks
Special camps and help desks have already been organised to provide citizens with the necessary information and assistance relating to the SIR process.
Measures have been taken to ensure that citizens face no inconvenience during the SIR process and receive the necessary guidance and assistance through the concerned election authorities.
Opportunity for inclusion in electoral roll
Any person whose name has been left out of the electoral roll during or after the SIR process, as well as eligible young and first-time voters, may apply to the concerned ERO for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll under the process of continuous updation.
The Election Commission of India has directed DEOs and EROs to undertake special drives to facilitate the enrolment of eligible voters.
Appeal to obtain official information
The Bengaluru North City Corporation has appealed to citizens to obtain information regarding SIR, voter registration and electoral roll-related procedures through the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and authorised help desks, and to submit the required documents as per the prescribed procedure.
