Woman assaulted by relatives over property dispute in Vijayapura village

VIJAYAPURA: A woman was brutally assaulted in the middle of the road by three of her relatives at Jalpur village in Talikote taluk. The woman, Mahadevi Firapoora, was beaten and dragged by her hair due to an old enmity over a property dispute.

Anand Biradara, a relative of a woman, was among those who attacked her over a property dispute.

Mahadevi claimed that while she was alone on the farm when Anand Biradara dragged her by the hand, but she ran away from him. She was, however, stopped in the middle of the road on her way back from the farm by the trio who attacked her.

The attackers were identified as Anand Biradara, Srishaila Biradara and Nanagouda Biradara. Mahadevi’s marital home is at Vandaganur village in Surpur taluk. She had moved back to her paternal home in Jalpur. The dispute is over a one-acre piece of land in Jalpur village.

The woman filed a complaint against her relatives following the assault. A case has been registered at Kalakeri police station.
