Bellandur police seize 800 kg of gelatin sticks, book real estate firm, engineers

BENGALURU: The Bellandur police have seized 800 kg of gelatin sticks which was meant for illegal use in construction work, near Bhoganahalli in Bellandur. An FIR has been filed against a real estate company and the site engineer among others.

Construction work was going on in an area of around 25 acres and the builders were using gelatin sticks to blast rocks during the construction work. The construction is being carried out by Adarsh Developers. It is alleged that blasting was being carried out without obtaining any licence.

Based on specific information, the Bellandur police conducted a raid and registered an FIR on July 11 against Adarsh Developers, Arun Kumar, the owner of earthmovers, Jagan, the site in-charge, and Prabhakar, the site engineer among others.

The FIR was filed at Bellandur police station based on a complaint by a site engineer, Satish, who looks after earthwork. Last December, the owners of Adarsh Developer contacted Satish and instructed to use gelatin sticks to blast large rocks spread across 25 acres,but Satish said blasting cannot be done without permission. At that time, the owners threatened him and instructed to go ahead with the blasting, the complaint said.
