BALLARI: Upa Lokayukta B Veerappa on Saturday made a surprise visit to APMC yard at Hospet in Vijayanagar district and also inspected the KSRTC bus stand.
The Upa Lokayukta held discussions with APMC officials and farmers regarding allegations of commission collection and fraud in weighing. Justice Veerappa also collected information about farmers’ problems. He inspected the functioning of weighing machines and gave instructions to the officials to curb unauthorised collection of money and to take steps to ensure farmers get fair prices
He also discussed the menace of middlemen and inspected the facilities and infrastructure. He instructed the APMC officials to respond quickly to farmers’ complaints and to give priority to protecting farmers’ interests
The Upa Lokayukta also visited KSRTC bus stand and inspected it for cleanliness. He also instructed officials to arrange bus facilities for students. Justice Veerappa also inspected bakery items and drinking water bottles at the bus stand.
