BENGALURU: The prices of daily essential food items are increasing by the day. From Friday, Nandini ghee and butter prices have gone up. Already burdened by the rise in prices of vegetables, fruits, gold, silver, ghee and butter, common people have now been hit with another blow as essential food items have also become costlier.

Prices of essential items like rice, pulses, spices, and some dry fruits have increased. The prices of spices and pulses are rising day by day. Among spices, especially cardamom has reached Rs 4,000 per kg. Similarly, the prices of coriander, cumin, and mustard have also gone up.

Among dry fruits, the price of almonds has increased. Because of this, traders are worried about how to do business. Along with this, the prices of urad dal, toor dal, jaggery, sugar, groundnut, chickpeas, tamarind, and all types of chilies have also gone up. The prices have risen due to lack of rain and a drop in crop yield.
