BELAGAVI: Students of the Sangameshwar Government Residential School hostel in Belagavi brought out the cooking vessels and protested until late at night on Wednesday after worms were in the food served to them.
The students express outrage that there is no drinking water or even water for toilets in the hostel. They vented anger against the warden’s negligence and higher officials, and boycotted the food after spotting worms in their plates.
As soon as information spread that students were insisting on summoning Social Welfare Department officials to the spot and were continuing their protest, APMC police visited the scene and inspected. Fearing health issues, the police arranged for an ambulance at the hostel as a precaution.
The students also demanded that the hostel’s problems be resolved immediately and that the department take action against the warden.
